“A Conversation with Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, Alex Sink”

·    Alex Sink, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, is a dynamic financial and civic leader whose professional experience and community service have molded her into a champion for fiscal responsibility and accountability.  For nearly 30 years, CFO Sink has been a trailblazer in the financial profession.  Her distinguished career culminated in her rise to President of Florida’s largest bank.  Sink served as Florida President of Bank of America for seven years.  Prior to her banking career, she was a teacher in West Africa.  Sink has served on the boards of four publicly-held Florida-based companies: Republic Bank (now BB&T), Sykes Enterprises, Raymond James and First Advantage.  In 2006, CFO Sink was elected as Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, responsible for monitoring the state’s fiscal health and managing more than $74 billion in tax dollars coming in and out of state government annually.  She also serves as state fire marshal.  As a Cabinet member, CFO Sink is one of four members of the Financial Services Commission who oversee the appointed insurance commissioner and commissioner of financial regulation.
