ION is the Inter Organization Network
of regional organizations in the U.S. committed to
advancing women to positions of power in the
business world, primarily to corporate boards and in
executive officer positions. ION, a term referring
to an electrical charge, was adopted as the name for
this organization to define how executive women's
networks combine their energies to expand their
influence and substantially increase the presence of
women in boardrooms and executive suites. By
combining energies, ION members
leverage their combined strength and influence to
substantially increase the number of women who
comprise the leadership of corporate America. ION
has attracted national media attention.
The coordinated efforts of ION are
generating benefits beyond those attainable by each
member acting on its own. Each ION member annually
tracks women directors and executive officers in its
respective geographic area and, as an organization,
ION publishes an annual comparison of key data from
the eight regions. The most recent Census Reports
are available below (PDF).
ION’s current members are: Board of
Directors Network in Atlanta, The Boston Club, Forum
for Women Entrepreneurs and Executives in the Bay
area of California along with the UC Davis, The
Chicago Network, Inforum in Detroit, Milwaukee
Women inc, The Forum of Executive Women in
Philadelphia, and Women Executive Leadership in
South Florida.
